Upcoming event: AVL and IAAPS to Host Tech Day this May

21 April 2026

On the 21st of May, industry leaders, researchers, and system architects will gather at IAAPS for a day of talks focusing on the real-life engineering challenges in power electronics.

Topics discussed will include scaling power density, efficiency, thermal performance, and reliability across passenger vehicles, heavy-duty transport, aviation, marine, and motorsport applications by industry and academia. The event, Future of Power Electronics in Mobility 2026, will be held at the IAAPS facility, Bristol and Bath Science Park, 9am, Thursday 21st May.

Attendees will gain insight into emerging architectures, validation strategies, and industrialisation pathways - bridging cutting-edge research with real-world deployment in the most demanding mobility environments.

We will hear from incredible keynote speakers, including the following:

Tom Halhead, Head of Technology at ATI, who will present “The Future of Power of Electronics – UK Aerospace Technology Strategy.” This will explore how ATI is investing in world leading technologies, enabling innovation, building partnerships and providing independent leadership to help the aerospace sector thrive.

David Pomeroy, Product Owner for Automated Test Systems at JLR, will present “Testing HV systems with the Copper Car” and will share how Copper Car is reshaping high‑voltage validation, and will go into the challenges and breakthroughs experienced.

Charlie Robson, Global Sales Manager at Motion Applied, presenting “From Road to Runway: Automotive inverters for Aerospace”. He will share how Motion Applied, who is gaining recognition for pushing the boundaries of power electronics, is adapting highperformance automotive inverter technology for the unique demands of aerospace.

Dr Jonathan Stevens, Power Electronics Capability Lead at Rolls Royce, who will deliver an insightful talk on “Elevating Power Electronics to New Heights” A mustattend session which will explore how power electronics are transforming the future of aviation.
