IAAPS and AVL join forces to debate future digital product developments at global automotive event
Heralded as one of the major annual automotive trade events, the Low Carbon Vehicle Show brings together automotive engineering and technical professionals from across the world to discuss, debate and demonstrate future technological advancements in the sector. At this year’s event, which took place online across two days in November, teams at IAAPS and AVL were at the forefront of the debate on the technological roadmaps required to deliver an acceleration in innovation and digital product development in the sector.
In a joint interview in the show’s headline publication, Future Vehicle, AVL’s Dr Wolfgang Puntigam, Global Business Unit Manager, AVL List GmbH, and IAAPS Academic Director, Professor Chris Brace were profiled in a headline article outlining their vision for future digital product developments. The interview outlined key areas of focus that Wolfgang and Chris have identified as being critical development areas within the automotive propulsion research arena over the next 3-7 years, as the industry embraces the rapid transition to more sustainable propulsion systems. The opening of the new £70m IAAPS R&I facility at the Bristol and Bath Science Park will provide a platform for these digital product innovations to be delivered with the merging of physical and virtual test environments which will enable more efficient innovation and knowledge sharing across organisations of all sizes. In addition to the joint collaboration with AVL at LCV 2020, the IAAPS team were also engaged in a range of other initiatives to connect with delegates at the event. IAAPS Strategic Collaborations Manager, Parvez Akhtar, delivered the leading talk in the Advanced Technologies Seminar Programme on Day 1 of the show. Parvez guided listeners through the development of integrated virtual and physical testing methodologies for future propulsion systems and outlined how the new IAAPS R&I facility will enable even greater opportunities for collaboration in this key area of development.
