Research Incubator: Car Clubs

13 March 2025

The AAPS CDT is hosting a two-day research incubator to identify and develop collaborative research opportunities around the theme of car clubs.

The event will bring together guests from academia, industry, and local government to explore key topics, including:

  • Stakeholders: The role of the private and public sectors
  • Transport Strategy and Policy: Mandates and incentives for car club usage
  • Car Club Infrastructure: Current bay siting methods and potential improvements
  • Behaviour Change: Effective strategies and messaging
  • Alternative Revenue Generation
  • Vehicle Technologies

This incubator provides a platform for participants to frame and discuss complex research challenges, share ideas, and establish valuable connections that may lead to future partnerships and collaborations.

The primary focus will be on identifying collaborative opportunities to maximise the potential of car clubs in decarbonising transport across the West of England. These opportunities could include:

  • Joint academic-partner research proposals for research funding councils
  • Short-term research projects, scoping studies, and consultancy work
  • Short-term placements for researchers and PhD students

The event will take place at the Apex City of Bath Hotel, Bath, from 26–27 March.

Those interested in participating are invited to register via this link, which will direct them to the Eventbrite page to book a free ticket.
