IAAPS is set to return to this year’s Future Propulsion Conference (FPC), held 1-2 March 2023 at the Motorcycle Museum in Solihull.
With ever growing pressures on the industry to meet tighter emission regulations, the need to develop and implement new technologies is paramount. FPC aims to bridge the gap between scientists and engineers from the UK’s leading academic institutions and industry players to address key trends and strengthen the engineering community to achieve this goal.
The two-day event, featuring a static exhibition, a comprehensive seminar programme as well as ample networking opportunities, brings together leading experts within the powertrain development field to map out the solutions to the challenges facing the engineering industry over the next decade, with key topics including battery applications, battery fundamentals, combustion (including hydrogen), electrical machines, fuel cells, heavy duty & off-highway, niche vehicles, power electronics, digital engineering and sustainability & regulation.
IAAPS can be found in the main hall on stand 42, where delegates will be able to meet the IAAPS team and discuss the vast range of technical capabilities across key market and transport sectors, including hydrogen, automotive and aerospace, as well as commercial and research collaboration opportunities.
Furthermore, IAAPS’ Research Director Professor Sam Akehurst will be chairing the session around combustion technology, taking place on Day 2 of the event between 9.45am and 11.15am in the Trafalgar Suite. Participants include Archie Watts-Farmer, Carnot Engines who will discuss ‘Developing Zero Emisson, High Efficiency Thermal Engines’; Nick Owen, Dolphin N2, who will talk about ‘Clean, Efficient Off-highway Power with a Split Cycle Hydrogen Engine’; Dr Penny Atkins, University of Brighton who will provide a case study into ‘Decarbonisation in the Marine Sector using Hydrogen’; and Carsten Weber, Ford Motor Company (Germany), who will close the session with an insight into ‘Hydrogen-fired Propulsion System Concepts’.
