Shape the Future of Clean Propulsion Infrastructure

£80,000 | Bristol & Bath Science Park | Permanent

Are you ready to lead strategic infrastructure development at one of the world’s leading clean mobility research centres?

IAAPS, a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Bath, is seeking a Strategic Infrastructure Development Manager to drive the expansion of our cutting-edge facilities and capabilities.

About the Role

This is a highly strategic technical position, reporting directly to the Managing Director. You will be responsible for identifying funding opportunities, developing compelling bids, and managing complex capital infrastructure projects ranging from £1 million to £20 million.

Your work will directly support IAAPS’ mission to accelerate the transition to net zero transport by expanding our world-class R&D capabilities—including green hydrogen production, propulsion system testing, and digital engineering laboratories.

Why Join Us?

This is a pivotal moment in IAAPS’ growth. You will play a central role in shaping our future infrastructure and capabilities, working across academic and commercial teams to deliver transformational impact.

We offer a collaborative, inclusive culture where innovation thrives and every contribution is valued. As part of a dynamic SME backed by the University of Bath, you will work at the intersection of technical excellence and strategic vision.

What We’re Looking For

  • Education & Experience: Master’s degree (or equivalent) in mechanical, electrical, building services, or M&E engineering.
  • Project Leadership: Proven track record of delivering medium to large-scale engineering infrastructure projects (£1 million–£20 million) on time and within budget.
  • Funding Success: Demonstrated success in securing funding from UKRI, Innovate UK, EPSRC, APC, ATI, Horizon Europe, and regional bodies.
  • Bid Development: Strong ability to craft compelling expressions of interest, bids, and business cases under tight deadlines.
  • Technical Acumen: Understanding of propulsion system testing infrastructure and supporting building systems (e.g. hydrogen, high-voltage power).
  • Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with ATEX, DESAR, LOLA, PSSR, and ISO standards (9001, 27001, 14001, 17025, 45001). IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications are preferred.

What We Offer

  • Competitive Salary: £80,000 (dependent on experience)
  • Pension Scheme: 8% employer contribution (up to 12% with matching)
  • Private Medical Insurance: Provided through Bupa
  • Life Assurance: 4x basic salary
  • Income Protection: Long-term salary continuation
  • Relocation Support: Up to £8,000
  • Annual Leave: 26 days plus bank holidays
  • Flexible Working: Outside core hours
  • Compassionate Leave: 5 days paid annually
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Professional Development: Access to cutting-edge technologies and learning opportunities
  • Employee Referral Scheme: £600 for successful referrals
